Cars and engines have been a life long passion of mine, owning lots of classic and performance cars in the past Iv been very fortunate and hard working enough to work my way up to my dream car, a Lamborghini. Not to mention create my dream hobby and passion into my business of engine building

Have you actually watched the LR Time videos on rebuilding this engine that so many people have told you to?
Sad to see that you choose to do a video instead of answering the phone which is your business
I’m glad you mentioned the YB cam pulley alignment, I had someone question why I felt the need to run adjustable pulleys with standard cams, but as you mentioned, soon as you take a skim of the head and deck the block they standard marks are miles out.
H'mm marking the pre-stripping timing with 'tippex'....your are, of course, assuming it is correct!!. over 60 years ago my dad got a 'factory rebuilt' 'A' series BMC engine...wouldn't start, many hours of checking later, found the problem the 'Factory' had managed to get the distributor back in 180 degree out😂
Lee, Cam timing along with ignition timing are super critical for efficient engine operation & making maximum power. This is why you have keyless engines with locking tools/pins so you get everything spot on. Marking pulleys with tip-ex or a sharpie is absolutely no help with a keyless engine set-up. The Renault F4r n/a engine is a classic example, many a local garage have failed to change the cambelt successfully (& the odd main dealer newbie).... If your Cosworths have had so much chopped of the heads & blocks then start fitting offset woodruff keys or recommend vernier pulleys, even if only to get the standard timing marks to line up...this is still not perfect cam timing but better than being half a tooth off...lol. The amount you charge should reflect the quality of the job, half a tooth out cam timing does not really cut it in my book...it's all about standards.
Instead of a Land Rover buy a Land Cruiser.

Lucky you’ve got subs that know what they talking about, personally I had no idea. I don’t no why they don’t have a small ring gap grinder in the shop, walking in and out would drive me mad. The guy’s that picked up your mistake give them some merch
we have all recommended LRTIME for all things Land rover. No finer man to learn from than Christian who knows nothing about Toyota. The level of detail and competence shown by Christian and Vera would certainly be a big plus for Barum .

If you want to see how to time up the Landrover engine maybe you want to watch "LR time", they have completely rebuilt and installed a new engine into there recently purchased LR that had a failed engine.
But that would mean admitting an amateur knows more than they do.
You really really need to go look up LR TIME he has built 3of those !!!!
Any JLR product should be avoided. These Indian cars are a liability The Ingenium engine is one of he worst engines ever made.

I got the Sealey Units, mine differ from yours a bit. Have been really happy with them. I went for the stainless work surfaces as well. I have peg board at the back though. Thousands of pounds spent and they don't supply a single peg would you believe it? 🙂

Use stainless steel bolts and washers in non-critical positions

Many people have referred them to LR Time. I'm getting the impression they're ignoring it as it would mean admitting an amateur (in the true sense of the word) knows more than they do.
I’ve seen so many people mention LR time with not so much as a mention of them or thanks for all your recommendations but we would like to follow the LR assembly guidelines rather than follow someone for RUclips I agree Lee may know a lot but can’t knock experience from someone that’s done a few and knows his stuff
I think you'll find when you build the Kseries engine,when the locking tools are in place the crank is 90 degrees BTDC

Isaac - recently swapped the coil packs in my DIL's Impreza - not too difficult a job, just a bit restricted for space.

LR 3.0 looking from the front there is a plug hole which is where a crank stop pin is to be inserted. This is used in conjunction with the flywheel timing hole. Both should be lined up

There’s definitely a ‘trick’ to timing the LR V6…. there is a peg behind the starter motor that will make sure the correct teeth line up… especially when the trigger wheel is fitted.
@Vera_and_Christian of LR Time have excellent TDV6 rebuild videos. Well worth a watch if your doing a few of these engines.
I don't think they read the comments or are too proud to pay attention to 'amateurs' ? People have been advising them for weeks to have a look at LR time, but here they are still guessing and debating.
@@gregculverwell I was one of those that recommended LR TIME, an extremely competent couple that do not resort to guesswork. I know which I would rather trust...

Yep it's like watching the blind leading the blind. There is a special timing bolt that goes in the side of the block when setting up from scratch. Watching this makes me realise how I will never use them for any work
It's odd they haven't taken our advice about LRTime it's not as if it wouldn't bring in a ton of work be specialists in SDV6 rebuilds

wasnt that the valves on that V-dub? that didnt look like where an injector fits.. anyway always use OEM injecotr O-rings... same goes true forthose here in the states building their HEUI diesels.. aftermarket O-rings end up with fuel in the oil

I think the DPF regen system causes fuel dilution of the lube oil causing bearing failures. Short journeys increase the problem. All users should half the required oil change interval.
Needs a scanner on it. Don’t go randomly searching around, you’ll waste time, and won’t have any clue where to start.
For the discovery engine there is a lock pin that screws in the side of the block to set tdc. Don’t use flywheel.
